Warner Springs Lions Club
For 35 years, the Warner Springs Lions Club has been helping the sight needs of the backcountry.
Meetings are held every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 9am, at Lake Henshaw Resort, 26439 Hwy 76, Santa Ysabel.
The club has 11 members. This year's officers are: President Rinaldo "Dee" DiPaolo; Vice President Bob Schrader; Secretary Mary June DiPaolo; and, Treasurer Patrica Schrader. Bob Schrader is also Zone Chairman on the District Governor's Cabinet this year.
The lions have one major fundraiser, the pit barbecue held every September at The Log Cabin on San Felipe Road & Hwy S-2 at San Felipe. All proceeds benefit Lions charities.
The club presents a $200 scholarship to a graduating senior at Warner School to be used for college. The club also furnishes eye exams and glasses to needy students at Warner School and for needy adults in the area. It also donates, at the request of students, money needed for special projects where additional funds may be needed.
Another beneficiary is Canine Companions for Independence and Guilde Dogs of the Desert, plus other causes that may come up and are deemed worthwhile by club members.
You can contact the Warner Springs Lions by writing them at: PO Box 72, Warner Springs, CA 92086, or by calling Dee DiPaolo at 760-782-3481.
